This notice serves to correct a previously published advertisement (February 24, 2026) listing
the anticipated school board vacancy as Region C. The vacancy is properly identified as
Region B and will be filled in accordance with the March 16, 2026, Court Order authorizing the
district to fill the vacancy with a qualified elector from Region B.

Statement of Clarification Regarding Anticipated School Director Vacancy
The DuBois Area School District issues the following statement to provide clarification regarding the anticipated vacancy on the DuBois Area School Board.
Pursuant to the Pennsylvania Public School Code of 1949, including but not limited to 24 P.S. § 3-315 and related provisions governing vacancies in the office of school director, the Board is responsible for filling a vacancy occurring during a director’s term. When a vacancy occurs, the Board must ensure that the appointment process complies with statutory requirements, including residency and regional representation where applicable.
On February 26, 2026, the DuBois Area School Board voted to defer acceptance of the resignation creating the vacancy pending further legal clarification. Specifically, the Board authorized the filing of a petition with the Clearfield County Court of Common Pleas to determine the implications of the District’s newly adopted regional plan, which became effective November 21, 2025.
The petition will request that the Court determine whether the anticipated vacancy must be advertised and filled as a Region B seat or a Region C seat in accordance with the new regional configuration. This action is intended to ensure full compliance with applicable law and to preserve the integrity of regional representation on the Board.
The Board’s decision to seek judicial clarification reflects its commitment to transparency, legal compliance, and the orderly governance of the District. Once guidance is received from the Court, the District will proceed promptly and in accordance with the Court’s determination and all applicable statutory requirements.

Thank you for your support of our efforts to practice COVID-19 mitigation strategies during the pandemic. Effective May 19, 2022, school board meetings will no longer be virtual through Zoom. We encourage and welcome the community to participate in our school board meetings in person. School board meetings are held in the board room at the Administrative Offices located at 500 Liberty Boulevard, DuBois, PA 15801. We look forward to seeing you again!
